Scrap’s Wreath

Sunday, September 9th, 2012

I am sure that you have a lot of fabric left overs if you are doing a lot of sewing crafts.

In the blog Onelovelylife there is a cool idea to do something creative with your left overs.

Lunch Bag

Monday, August 27th, 2012

I always bring my lunch to work so I decided to do a lunch bag  following Martha Stewart’s instructions.

If I would do it again I think I would use some Plastic fabric instead of the fabric I used. I wanted to use my new textile markers so I used an old curtain fabric but it was a mistake the fabric  is not hard enough. So the bag does not stay straight on its own.

However, still is a nice lunch back!

I found this really interesting tutorial on Emmy Lizzy Blog on how to do a Lamp made of Doilies!!!!!!!

I think it is so cute. I would like to give it a try when ever I have a little bit more of time!

Balcony pockets

Sunday, July 29th, 2012

After a lot of thinking I have decided to create a vertical garden for my balcony. I think that this is the easiest way to use up the small space that I have in my balcony. I think that at least now the balcony looks a bit more greener.

I bought a discounted trellis  in Woddies and I painted it in pistachio colour.  Then I made some pockets with some IKEA fabric that I had that is 100% cotton. They were very simple to make. I did different squares and rectangles at different sizes to hang from the trellis. If you decide to do this make sure that the fabric is letting the water to come out when you water the plants other ways your plants will rot!

I did some holes at the back of the pockets and I put through the holes cable ties that I used to tie the pockets to the trellis.

I went back to Woddies and I bought a selection of flowers that live well with poor light (my balcony does not get a lot of light) and that they do live well in small spaces. I bought a couple of alpine flowers and Ivy pots and here is the result!

Washi tape

Saturday, July 14th, 2012

I do not know if you are familiar with Washi tape. Washy tape is a type of tape made from rice paper that was initially only made in Japan.

Now a days you can buy it in a lot of crafting stores. Washi tapes can be printed with really lovely adhesive tape designs. The tapes can easy be torn by hand but are extremely robust and hard wearing. The best is that you can remove them completely and use them several times. This means that even the little ones can use them easily!

The reason why they are a hit in all the crafting stores at the moment is because they are very versatile. They can be used to decorate and give a personal touch to anything you can think off. They can be used on envelopes, cards, vases, picture frames, windows, furniture…

You can basically let your creative self free!

Here you can see some of the cute designs that you can find:

Here you can see what I did with some Washi tape that I bought in modes4you

I had this table from IKEA that was very cheap but not so special. With the washi tape  I gave it a more original look!

And here you can see what I did with my EXPEDIT bookshelf from IKEA

Life is good

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

Lately I have been going through a rough patch. Sometimes you have to remind yourself what is important in life so you do  not get down into a ditch that you can not get out of it.

In order to remind this to myself this week’s craft is about Life and how good it is :)

Did you even hear about the company Life is Good? It is a company created by two brothers in Boston that they started to sell t shirts with the life is good motive on them. I always find them so uplifting. So I decided to bring this idea into my house hold.

I did a cushion with the Life is Good motive! I cut in felt the letters life is good and then I stitched them to the cushion. What do you think?

I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crafts of the week

Sunday, June 17th, 2012

I have been very busy lately so I did very simple easy crafts this week!

For ages my husband complained that I always was leaving needles around. I know, it is dangerous! tell this to my Dad! my mum always does the same and once he actually got pinched with one when he sat down in the couch! poor Dad!

So I decided to do a little heart and fill it with stuffing and now I am using it to place the needles. I think it looks cute!

I also painted a little bird house that I got in Michaels. That store is amazing. Please, please, open one in Europe!

I would be going with Ryanair anywhere in Europe to get to any of these stores. I love it!

This bird house is for my balcony. I feel it really needs an improvement. I will let you know the results!

Tissue Box

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012

I have to say that I always prefared big tissue boxes over handkerchiefs. The thing I do not like about tissue boxes is that unless you buy the expensive ones the boxes are horrible with the big name of the supermarket on it or with horrendous colours and letters. So this week what I did was a little pocket for my tissue box.

I just used some fabric I bought in IKEA a while back and then I literally but it in a rectangle and then I did a hole on the top for the tissues.

My husband has a seriously problem for letting go things! He would keep everything. When he was young he had this fairy wall paper in his bedroom and his mum removed it after many years when she restyled the room. My husband would not let her mum to through away the wall paper and he made her keep it in the attic!

This year for his birthday, she gave him a really unusual present that I loved even more than him!! I think is because I love crafts 😉 she bought in a craft shop cardboard letters that read the word DREAM and cover them with the wall paper and painted the back in a blue/green tone matching the paper it looks brilliant! I think this is the perfect accessory for a nursery!!!!!!!!!!

She got the cardboard letters in crafty angels.

Mobile phone and ipod cases

Sunday, April 29th, 2012

My husband kept giving out to me about the fact that the screens for my phone and my ipod were constantly getting scratched so I finally put an end to that problem I made these covers!

The covers are made with fabric from IKEA and the inside are covered with felt so like this the phone/ipod are super protected! Instead of using a button to close the case I used a little bell and for the ipod case I used a button in the shape of a dolphin because the fabric is with marine motives
