Harvesting your garden and surroundings

Thursday, July 4th, 2013

I should stop bloging while hungry because I can only think of food entries 😉

Now that we are in full bloom this summer I recommend you all to go harvesting all those blackberries, plums, berries, elderflowers, what ever you can think of and start making jams, drinks EVERYTHING!!!!!!!

If you would like to learn from a pro read this link from Ballymaloe web site about the art of jam making. Also take a look at this cool web site from Edible Ireland about the things you can cook by foraging things around your garden or local forest!

Bon appetite!

Veg Boxes

Tuesday, June 25th, 2013

I just found a great idea on line that I felt I had to share with all of you! Veggie Boxes!!

Veggie boxes are full of locally grown, chemical-free, vegetables that can be conveniently delivered to your door or collected. The idea came from Green Home Farm. A farm  set up by Damien & Kelly Duffy in response to the demand from friends and family to source locally grown produce with zero air miles. They are based in Ballyglass, Turloughmore, Co.Galway.

Prices go from 10€ to 20€. It is totally worth it! I must find a supplier in Leinster!

Family Recipies

Saturday, February 9th, 2013

Last Christmas I got a lovely present from my brother in law. I got a box that had different dividers to separate the different types of recipes.

I decided to use recipes from all the women in my life and in my husband’s life. The idea is to pass on the box to the future generations!

I scanned the dividers and I used the colour/pattern of each divider for the recipes and on top of the recipe I placed the name and photo of the lady.

All recipes were laminated in order to be able to use them while cooking. I am really excited about this project because I used signature recipes for every body. For example for my granny I used a traditional Catalan dessert that she used to make when I was younger, from my sister in law the recipe she used for making the dessert on her wedding day etc…

Here is the box and an the dividers and one of the recipes!

Their vision is for a healthier, more sustainable and more connected world where people grow their own food.

In this web site there are links to groups, to forums you named it! all the help you can find to grow you own food is there!!

Food

Monday, February 6th, 2012

Ceremony and reception took place in the restaurant Mas Maroch. Mas Marroch is a venue for wedding banquets run by the restaurant el Celler de Can Roca. It is located on the outskirts of Girona.

Mas Marroch is a 13th Century stately country house surrounded by beautiful hundred year old gardens. It is true that the venue and location are amazing but the treasure of this venue is the people running it! The place is run by a family that they put out all their heart and passion to do the best they can. Three brothers are running the restaurant. One is doing the food, the other is doing the desserts and the third is doing magic with the wines! One of the pillars of this venue is Encarna. She is married with one of the brothers and without her our wedding would not have worked out as it did. She is absolutely brilliant, her attention to detail and to facilitate you on any dream you have for your day is astonishing! She should be proud that she made hundreds of couples so happy in their wedding day. She certainly contributed to our happiness and to deliver the dreams we had for our day.

No wonder that this restaurant has three stars Michelin and that it is featured as the second best in the world.  It is not food that made this possible but the people that work in this restaurant!
