Fire truck bed

Sunday, August 25th, 2013

I was browsing one of my favourite web sites ikeahackers.net and I found this marvellous hack!!!  a Kura bed converted into a fire truck with working lights and all!!!!!

I asked Cameron to do something like this for our baby. Cameron said that our little boy would have to look for a new Daddy because he is not able to produce such a thing! hahahaha! Although he said, ask Michael (his Dad). He said that Granddad Michael would be great for the job. Nobody like him with the hammer he said 😉

Urban Hardwoods

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

I was working recently in the Smithsonian in W.DC an I had the pleasure to be behind the scenes. I saw a lot of cool things in storage. One of them was a gigantic cut out of a sequoia.

It  was so beautiful. I really thought  it was a big waste to have it there accumulating  dust!

I actually started to think that it would be lovely to use it as dining table! So I started to look for ideas on line and I came across a company called Urban Hardwoods.

Urban Hardwoods is a company from Seattle that makes furniture from trees that would have been discarded.

Each piece is unique. Have a look!

Epoch Boutique

Thursday, January 24th, 2013

I remember reading before about the high amount of clothes/fabric that goes into land fill every year. I can not remember the exact number but I know that it made an impression on me.

I normally like to buy clothes that are a bit more expensive but that they last for longer. This means that I do not buy many clothes a year but I am a believer that it is better to buy something that lasts for longer.

I have been looking around for recycled clothes for a while. I have to admit that I do not like second hand clothes because most of the times the clothes are outdated. This is why I was delighted to read about Epoch Boutique. They have a range of vintage clothes, but also revamped clothes with really awesome designs!

Here are some of my favourites:

C2C Chair

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

I found this lovely chair on line. It is from MisoSoupDesign. This Company was established in New York City in 2004. All their designs have a direct connection between environment and limited resource, and the concept of their design always incorporates new ideas with minimal wasted material.

The C2C Chair has a really unique feature, it can transform between a chair and a lounge chair without taking it a part or needing any tools. It is made with 2 shapes of wood ans steel roods.

What I really like about it is that is very elegant but at the same time is so functional and has a double use!

To reduce environment impact, the wood parts used on this chair are manufactured by computer numerical controlled cutting machine to minimize material waste during production.
